11th April 2013: Lijadu Sisters

I came across this on Soundcloud a while ago and made this playlist - not a lot on Grooveshark. A friend put it on our radio show last night, so it's time for a post on the Lijadu sisters.

23rd March 2013: Melanie

Someone on soundcloud said I reminded her of Melanie, so I made a playlist.
I've mentioned Melanie before in this blogpost.
Some of the songs are a mix of Marianne Faithful and Devendra Banhart and the Shangri-Las. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

19th February 2013: Ike and Tina Turner

Don't judge until you've listened.

Ike Tina Turner by leonore schick on Grooveshark

I can't find any traces of this other song I know.
It goes like this:
My Papa told me that the day would come
When I would want to love some-one
He sat me down on his knee
And these are the words he said to me
[Ike: He said]
One of these days you're gonna reach eighteen
and all the boys around will make you feel like a queen
You smile and blushing, hold your head up high
but the same little boys will make you cry
so the best thing to do when you reach this age
is to be a good girl, remember what I said
Maek 'em wait

That's it!

7th February 2013: Red Rubber Ball, The Cyrkle

I heard Red Rubber Ball on radio 2 one night. I looked it up and found out it was written by Paul Simon. I had the album for a while, and found the track "There's a fire in the fireplace" the funniest one.

6th February 2013 : Breaking Glass, Hazel O'Conor

I saw this film when I was twelve or thirteen, and five years later noticed the album on sale in an HMV.

With a wonderful tagline too: The Experience is... SHATTERING.

30th January 2013: Au Revoir Simone

Fun facts.
1. The name of the band is from Peewee. The band are not French. 2. I saw them live in Paris courtesy of my sister. 3. Au revoir simone is made up of beautiful girls and three keyboards. 4. They sang on Air's Voyage Dans La Lune (I blogged that playlist a few days ago). 5. I really like to listen to this.

29th January 2013: Oldies Mixes (2)

This is another mix that Grooveshark radio helped me with. I promise tomorrow I'll stop it with the cheesey sixties stuff.

28th January 2013: Fleetwood Mac

There was no escaping this. I'm not sorry. The playlist is the whole of the Rumours album, then an album called "Shrine 69".
